Newsoms – Ophelia White Miles, 98, died November 25, 2007. She was born in Aulander, N. C., a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Emma Dale Liverman White. Mrs. Miles was predeceased by her husband, George Thomas Miles, her son, George Thomas Miles, Jr., a sister, Elizabeth White Bazemore, and two brothers, Vernon and Wingate White. She attended Chowan College and Wake Forest College, was retired as a bookkeeper for Miles Truck Line, and a former member of the Newsoms Woman's Club. Ophelia was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church, the Homemakers Class, and past president of the WMU.
Survivors include her brother, Benjamin Harvey White of Raleigh, N. C. and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, with the Rev. Jason Wise officiating. Memorials may be made to Newsoms Baptist Church, P. O.
