Franklin – Norwood Craven Sykes, 78, died June 5, 2009 at the East Pavilion. He was born in Franklin, a son of the late Dora Jones Sykes and Edward B. Sykes, Sr. Norwood was predeceased by a sister, Myrl S. Davidson, and three brothers, Edwards B. Sykes, Jr., C. J. Sykes, and Buddy Sykes. He was retired as a floral designer with Kilby's Florists and was the former manager of the "Town House" in Franklin. Norwood was an Army veteran and a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mae Lynn and one brother, Tommy Sykes, both of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 2 pm at Poplar Spring Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Black Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 34163 Vicksville Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
