Suffolk – Nelson Richard Barden, 77, passed away June 28, 2025 in his home with family by his side.  Born and raised in Nansemond County, he was a son of the late Clyde Clinton Barden, Jr. and Mary Eure Barden.

Nelson was a life-long farmer and manager of Barden Farms.  He was a life long member of South Quay Baptist Church and CB Hunt Club.  Nelson loved God, his family, and the outdoors.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Betty Delores Barden; his daughter, Jeanette Barden March and her husband David; his grandsons, Tucker Barden March and Tanner Barden March; his sisters, Mary Louis Barden Blanchard (Junior), Carolyn Barden Woodard (Thomas); and Patricia Gail Barden Tillett (Tony); his brothers, C. C. Barden, III (Fonda), Roger D. Barden (Pam), Jack B. Barden, and Terry L. Barden (April); and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Thursday, July 3, 2025 in South Quay Baptist Church with Rev Mark Warren officiating.  Burial will follow in South Quay Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggests memorial donations be made to South Quay Baptist Church.
