Franklin – Nancy Johnston Drewry, 74, passed away February 1, 2009. She was born in Richmond, a daughter of the late James Chester and Mercer Mitchell Johnston and was predeceased by her devoted husband of 47 years, Richard Talmage Drewry. Mrs. Drewry attended Mary Washington College and was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Talmage "Tal" Drewry, Jr., and James Mercer "Jim" Drewry, both of Franklin; a brother, George Herbert Johnston and wife, Betty, of Mechanicsville; two nephews, George H. Johnston, Jr. and wife, Beth, and James Mitchell Johnston and wife, Heather; four great-nephews; one great-niece; and a cousin, Ann Pope of Courtland. The children and grandchildren of Ann and Harvey Pope were special to her and brought joy to her life.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley with the Rev. Fred McCall and the Rev, Edmund Pickup officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, 312 Robinhood Road, and suggests memorials be made to the Franklin Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 158, Franklin, Va. 23851, or Franklin Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 179, Franklin, Va. 23851.
