Obituary

Boykins - Nancy Francis Draper Parker, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 28th, 2018 in East Pavilion with her family by her side. Nancy was born on March 21, 1929 in her family home in Boykins to the late Homer Virgil and Gladys Francis Draper. She married the late Raymond Lonnie Parker, Jr., building a family and making memories until his passing. Besides her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Draper Brown, and brother, Bill Draper. Nancy was a bookkeeper for Boykins Milling Company for 25 years and was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Club, Red Hatters and Boykins Tararra Woman's Club.

Nancy spent many years of her later life with a special friend, the late Winfred Byrum. They could always be found at his Nags Head cottage, taking trips to Oregon Inlet and cooking breakfast. She was very grateful for their relationship as he was like a father and grandfather to her daughters and grandchildren.

Nancy enjoyed playing card games like bridge and rummy with her neighbors and friends, taking trips with family to Australia and New Zealand, never missing a Duke Basketball game, and was an avid movie and TV show watcher. Her favorites were Sound of Music, Dirty Dancing, Wheel of Fortune and Andy Griffin.

Nancy loved her grandchildren more than anything. She always enjoyed watching each of them play sports and attended many of their school activities. One of her many wishes was to see each of them graduate college, which she did and was thankful for those memories.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are daughters Connie Parker Storey (Ronnie) of Murfreesboro, NC, and Linda Parker Felts (Chip) of Branchville; four grandchildren Allison Storey Hollowell (Daniel) of Greenville, NC, Jessie Storey Taylor (Evan) of Kinston, NC, Sara Felts Karker (Trevor) of Ivor and Reed Joseph Felts of Branchville; and four great- grandchildren Avery Brooke Hollowell, Tenley Paige Hollowell, Finn Lewis Taylor and soon to arrive Baby Karker.

A memorial will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Boykins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kyle Bass and Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. Burial will be private. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Boykins United Methodist Church. Nancy's family would like to thank the staff at East Pavilion and Hospice of Virginia for their support and care during Nancy's last few months. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
