Amherst - Maurice L. LaFuze, 53, of Amherst, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  Morrie was born on June 23, 1967, in Waynesboro, Virginia.  He was the son of the late David and Lois LaFuze.

Morrie was a graduate of Virginia Tech and an engineer in the paper industry for over 30 years.  He was a member of Amherst Presbyterian Church.  He loved his children and was proud of all of their accomplishments.  Morrie was a Hokie through and through and loved attending games in Blacksburg.  Thanksgiving was a special holiday for him with "Shorty" and "Moodge".  Over the years he made many friends in the paper industry and will be missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Julia LaFuze, his son David LaFuze, and his daughter Katie LaFuze.  He will be missed by his sisters Ann Daniel (Jeff) and Leisa Timmons (Steve), brother Brooks Tuttle, and in-laws Ken and Bev Dando.

A private service will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to Blue Ledge Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1332, Amherst, VA  24521.
