Franklin – Mildred Revelle Smith, 91, widow of Robert Spencer Smith died April 17, 2008 at The Evergreens in Greensboro, NC. Born in Margaretsville, NC., she was a daughter of the late George and Mattie Revelle. She was also predeceased by a daughter Joyce S. Gayle, a sister Lois Gayle and two brothers Leonard and Robert Lee Revelle. Mrs. Smith was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice S. Oliver and husband Frank of Suffolk; a son, William C. Smith and wife Nancy of Greensboro; a son-in-law, Charles R. Gayle of Franklin; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 pm Sunday at Poplar Spring Cemetery, with the Rev. Sharon James officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home and Sunday from 2 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High St., Franklin, Va. 23851 or a favorite charity.
