Zuni – Mildred Copeland Hedgepeth, 87, widow of Darden Woodrow Hedgepeth, died April 18, 2008. Born in Isle of Wight County, she was a daughter of the late John and Isabel Copeland. Mrs. Hedgepeth was also predeceased by a son, James "J D" Hedgepeth; two great-grandsons, Christopher Turner and Preston Lee Hedgepeth, four sisters and two brothers. She was retired from Gwaltney Packing and attended Zuni Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Turner and husband, Clifton, of Scotland Neck, NC, four sons, Russell Hedgepeth and wife, Becky, of Windsor, Floyd "Teeter" Hedgepeth and wife, Betty, of Suffolk, Dennis Hedgepeth and wife, Barbara, of Boykins, and Roger Earl Hedgepeth of Zuni; a daughter-in-law, Claudette Hedgepeth of Suffolk, two sisters, Evelyn Jones of Suffolk and Vivian Winborne of Buckhorn; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am Monday at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Rob Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. www.wrightfuneralhome
