Franklin – Mitchell Powell "Mickey" Gray, 84, passed away November 14, 2019 in Nansemond Point Rehabilitation and Health Center.  He was a native of Franklin and a son of the late Vernie Ashby and Bessie Powell Gray and was also predeceased by a brother Vernie A. Gray, Jr.  Mickey was a graduate of Franklin High School and Chowan College.  He served in the US Army and was retired from Hercules, Inc. after 32 years of service.  Mickey was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his son John Mitchell Gray (Cheryl) of Mechanicsville; two sisters Jean Leggett and Joy Gray (Thatch) both of Suffolk; four nieces Karen Newton (Michael), Kathy Weber (Greg), Kelly Bowers, and Val Gray; one nephew V. Ashby Gray, III; and a special friend Judy Blythe.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 18, 2019 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating.   Burial with Military Honors will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.  A reception will follow the service in Franklin Congregational Christian Church.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations may be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.   www.wrightfuneralhome.org
