Ivor – Michael Edward Hammond, 61, passed away January 18, 2025 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Michael was born in Richmond on August 4, 1963, and after graduation, he served in the US Army.  He was a former millwright for Allfirst in Portsmouth.

Michael loved his family and enjoyed being in the spotlight.  He spent much time working in the yard with his mom, June.  Michael was very giving, kind hearted, and loved animals, especially his cat Ollie.  He frequently talked about traveling and traveled many places while working including New Zealand and Antarctica.

Michael was friendly, outgoing, and really loved good food.  He took great pride in his appearance and style.  He proudly loved and supported Donald Trump.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, June Carol Hammond; two children, Amber and Paul; a grandson, Sebastion; his wife, Tricia Mena Hammond; his step children, Emelie, Michael, and Angelia; and his best friends, Brian and Larry.  Michael was predeceased by his father, Joseph Carlton Hammond.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Sunday, January 26, 2025 in Corinth Friends Meeting with former minister Mandy Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
