Suffolk – Thomas Michael Freeman, 61, passed away September 17, 2017. Michael was born in Nashville, TN. He grew up in Virginia Beach and resided in Suffolk, VA.

He was the owner of Plaza Bakery in Virginia Beach where he worked with his father for over 40 years. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, reading and was a fabulous cook.

He is survived by his wife of 34years Denise J. Freeman, a daughter Lorrie Gaskins, a son Bobby Shaffer and his wife Jennifer, three grandchildren, Melissa Gaskins, Zach Gaskins and John Shaffer, a sister-in-law Ann Whitley (Ronnie), aunts, Nancy House and Patsy Cannon ,two brothers and his Plaza Bakery family.

Michael was predeceased by his mother Caroline H. Freeman and his father James David Freeman.

The family will receive visitors at the residence 302 Peach Wood Ct., Suffolk and suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to CHKD Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, P.O. Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6PM Wednesday September 20, 2017 in Wright Funeral Home, 206 West 4th Ave., Franklin, VA 23851 with Mr. Stephen March officiating. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
