Franklin – Melonie "Mel" Griffin, 66, passed away on November 2, 2022 in Southampton Memorial Hospital.  Born in Franklin on May 4, 1956 and raised in Boykins, she was the daughter of the late Thurman Richard "TR" Griffin and Janice DeLoatche Griffin.

Mel was a 1974 graduate of Southampton High School and a 1976 graduate of Chowan College.  She was a former secretary to the VP of Southampton Memorial Hospital Nursing Services and was a retired HR Administrator for International Paper with 26 years of service. Mel was a former office manager for Wright Funeral Home and was a lifelong member of Boykins Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Michael Thurman Griffin, a niece, Megan Griffin, and a host of cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held at 4PM Monday, November 7, 2022 in Beechwood Cemetery with Pastor Brooks Gale officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00PM on Sunday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin and suggests that memorial donations be made to Boykins Baptist Church.
