Windsor – It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother.  Melinda Joyce Green Harrison, 74, passed away June 19, 2026.  Born in Franklin on June 28, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Romie Edley Green and Lenora "Lena" Cash Green.  She was also predeceased by three brothers, James Stuart Green (Faye), Romie Burwell "RB" Greene, and Charles Henry Green.

Melinda received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Christopher Newport University.  She was a retired Assistant Manager at Peebles Department Store in Smithfield and was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed cleaning her kitchen, cooking, crafting, gardening and bird watching.  Melinda also enjoyed the 4th of July and celebrating the holiday in Great American cities such as St. Louis, San Francisco, Denver, and Niagra Falls.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years, Fenton Wallace Harrison, Jr.; a daughter, Jennifer Gale Harrison of Windsor; a son, Kevin Brian Harrison (Rebecca) of Windsor; a sister, Barbara G. Normyle (Patrick); two brothers, Hoyle B. Green (Jean) and Larry R. Green (Lori); four grandchildren, Dustin Henry Harrison, Leigh Ann Harrison, Emily Kuntz and Christian Kuntz; a sister-in-law, Hazel Greene; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3PM Thursday, June 25, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Reason Chandler and Pastor Hoyle Green officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Annex of Poplar Spring Cemetery off of Homestead Rd.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.
