Obituary

Franklin – Mary Betty Vaughan, 84, widow of Richard Lee Vaughan, passed away November 13, 2020 in Southampton Memorial Hospital.  Born in Southampton County and a former resident of Windsor and Courtland, she was the daughter of the late Gillette Thomas Bryant, Sr. and Wilma Nurney Bryant and was also predeceased by a daughter, Anita V. Foster, a brother, Gillette Thomas Bryant, Jr., and a grandson, Derek Foster.

Mary Betty was a graduate of Courtland High School.  She was a former cafeteria manager at Windsor High School and a former receptionist for the Suffolk Health Department.  She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Toni V. Joyner; two sons, Ricky Vaughan (Kristy) and Keith Vaughan (Melissa); a son-in-law, Ronnie L. Foster; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 15, 2020 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyle Green Officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 477 Viking Dr., Ste. 130, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
