Sedley – Mary Jane Owen Simmons, 91, widow of Walter Maurice Simmons, passed away September 2, 2018, in Lynn's Care Home at Riverside in Raleigh, NC surrounded by her loved ones. Mary Jane was born in Jarratt, VA and was a daughter of the late Guy Hamlin and Bessie Powell Owen and was predeceased by two sisters Rosalind Owen and Patricia Temple. She was a retired banker having worked 45 years in the banking industry. She was an active member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a former treasurer and youth leader.

Left to cherish her memory are two sisters Rita O. Tillery and Vivian O. Dunn; three brothers Glenn Owen (Joyce), Benjamin Owen (Judy), and Thomas Owen; and was a beloved aunt and second mom to a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Grace Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Elizabeth Von Trapp Walker and Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and suggest that memorial donations be made to Grace Memorial United Methodist Church, 31036 Peachtree Ave., Sedley, VA 23878.   www.wrightfuneralhome.org
