Franklin – Mary Frances Phippins Duck, 81, widow of Garland Andrews Duck, Sr., died May 5, 2008. Mrs. Duck was born in Isle of Wight County, a daughter of the late Norman and Mary Duck Phippins. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley D. Warren (Earl), of Franklin; her son Garland Andrews "Andy" Duck, Jr., (Cindy), of Howe, Tx.; three grandchildren, Beth Warren Rodgers (Rich), Mark Andrews Warren (Jennifer), Michael Andrews Duck; four great-grandchildren, Evan Rodgers, Nash Warren, Luke Warren, Ryan Rodgers, and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 am in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, Va. 23851 or Franklin Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P. O. Box 179, Franklin, Va. 23851.
