Franklin – Mary Emily Davis Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side.  Born in Selma, NC, and a former resident of Portsmouth, VA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Freddie Davis and Charity Elizabeth Taylor "Chat" Davis.  She was also predeceased by her first husband Lester D. Starling, her second husband Albert Lewis Johnson, two sons William Lester Starling and Donald Ray Johnson, and a granddaughter, Fancy Moore Stewart.

Mary was the former owner of Johnson's Seafood Grill and Crabhouse in Portsmouth.  She was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Dorothy Moore (Gil) of Courtland and Lorraine Starling of Franklin; a son, Samuel R. Johnson (Cindy) of Kinston, NC; a brother, Ralph Davis (Sandra) of Chesapeake; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2PM Monday, April 22, 2024 in Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth with Pastor Randall Wright officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Harvest Christian Fellowship.
