Franklin – Mary Alice Horne Abbitt, 92, widow of William Henry Abbitt, passed away March 12, 2023 in East Pavilion.  Born in Norton, VA, a former resident of Richmond, and a resident of Franklin since 1993, she was a daughter of the late Hoke Irvine Horne and Alice Oalene Beverly Horne.  She was also predeceased by a sister, Nancy Oalene Horne; a brother, Hoke Irvine Horne II; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Frances Abbitt; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Abbitt Kales.

Mary Alice was a graduate of the University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor's Degree and her MBA.  She was a retired Actuary from Dominion Power.  Mary Alice remained an active member in the Constantia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Left to cherish her memory are several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Rev. Jean Vinson officiating.  The family suggests memorial donations be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
