Capron - Mary Crichton Detwiler, 68, passed away at home on July 29, 2008 surrounded in love by her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Jere K. Detwiler; two devoted daughters, Wendy D. Wand and husband, Paul, and Nancy Detwiler and fiancé, Michael Goodman. The light of her life was her granddaughter, Georgia Ansley Wand. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her second granddaughter, Shaia Mason Goodman, in November.
Mary was born June 14, 1940 to the late Nancy Mason Crichton and James Winfield Crichton. She was also preceded in death by her younger sister, Susan Crichton Miller. She is survived by two other sisters, Nancy Cox and husband, Dan, and Jane Futrell and husband, Tommy. "Pete", as she was affectionally called, is also survived by 5 nieces; 5 nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. They will all miss her greatly.
She will be remembered by many as the smiling face at the admissions office at Southampton Memorial Hospital where she worked for 21 years. Mary touched the lives of all she came in contact with and always had a kind word to offer. She was honored as Employee of the Year in 2003. Mary was a lifetime member of Capron United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10 am at Capron Cemetery with the Rev. James M. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday (today) from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
