Carrsville – Martha Edwards Bishop, 72, passed away March 14, 2021, in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born in Franklin on April 19, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Luther Thomas Edwards, Sr. and Elma Britt Edwards.  Martha was also predeceased by a brother, Luther Thomas "LT" Edwards, Jr.

Martha was a retired mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Franklin and a former school bus driver for Southampton Academy.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, John Milton "Johnny" Bishop; two sons, John Milton Bishop, Jr. of Capron and Michael Neil Bishop of Carrsville; a sister, Katherine E. Weaver; three brothers, Cecil Edwards, Bill Edwards, and Bob Edwards; one grandchild, John Milton Bishop, III; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1PM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Wright Funeral Home with burial following in Beechwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.
