Franklin - Mark E. Gagen, age 57, a former Sherrill resident and more recently of Franklin, VA passed away unexpectedly Saturday August 3, 2013 at his home in Franklin, VA.
He was born on July 25, 1956 in Greenport, Long Island, New York, a son of Bernard G. and Betty (Gaffga) Gagen and was a 1975 graduate of V.V.S. Central High School.
Mark was previously employed with Oneida Limited and worked some time as a bowling alley mechanic prior to his move to Franklin, VA. Prior to his retirement due to a back injury he was employed as an auto body mechanic with Franklin Collision.
In his younger years Mark was a standout baseball player. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving are his daughter Christina Lynn Reiss, grandson Cameron Sukeforth, mother Betty Gagen of Walton, two brothers and sisters in-laws, Larry and Carol Gagen of Middle River, MD and Jay and Tami Gagen of Sherrill. Also surviving are two nieces, Danielle Gagen and Leslie (Luke) Holmes, nephew Dustin Gagen and great-nephew Brody Holmes.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, August 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 10th, at St. Helena's Church, Primo Ave., Sherrill. Burial will follow in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, NY. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home Inc, 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. Wright Funeral Home had charge of local arrangements.
