Stamford, CT - Marjorie Louise Vaughan Skidmore, 100, died peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, in Stamford, Connecticut. The daughter of the late Collin Ricks and Pearl Harrell Vaughan, she was born November 15, 1924, in Virginia, where she was raised.
Mrs. Skidmore graduated from Petersburg High School, Petersburg, Virginia, and Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia. She then lived with her family in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she taught school for two years. There she met and married James Lee Skidmore, and after living in Lynchburg for nine years his job brought them to Stamford, Connecticut, in 1960, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
Mrs. Skidmore was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stamford, and was a former volunteer at Stamford Hospital. An avid reader, she also enjoyed writing, traveling, keeping in touch with her many old friends and meeting new ones.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Skidmore was predeceased by her husband and her sister, Katherine Ricks Vaughan Cobb. She is survived by her son, Colin Randolph Skidmore, of Stamford.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home in Franklin, Virginia, with Rev. Mike Harrington officiating.
