Boykins – Marie Jarratt Carter, 87, passed away December 27, 2017. Mrs. Carter was a native of Drewryville, a former resident of Richmond and a resident of Boykins for the last twelve years. She was the daughter of the late Waverly Leonard Jarratt and Virgie Harris Jarratt and was also predeceased by her husband William "Bill" Wood Carter.

She was a 1947 graduate of Drewryville High School and a graduate of Smithdeal- Massey Business School. She was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Richmond and owned Forest Hill Beauty Salon in Richmond for over fifty years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter Dr. Carolyn C. Modlin and husband Jimmy of Boykins, two grandchildren, Dee Modlin Clary and husband Jason of Rawlings and Jim Modlin and wife Cassie of Sedley, three great grandchildren, Parker Collins Clary, Dawson Cole Clary and Carter James Modlin, many nieces and nephews and two special "god sons" Robert and Richard Poland.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 PM Friday December 29, 2017 in Wright Funeral Home, Boykins with the Rev. Kyle Bass and Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. Burial will follow at the Drewryville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Boykins Volunteer Rescue Squad. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
