Boykins – Marcia Lassiter Garriss, 72, passed away October 24, 2020 in Southampton Memorial Hospital.  Born in Suffolk and raised in Boykins, she was the daughter of the late Albert Kenneth Lassiter and Jane Draper Lassiter and was also predeceased by a brother, Ken Lassiter.

Marcia was a 1966 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of Southampton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.   She was a former licensed practical nurse at Southampton Memorial Hospital and a retired nurse at Southampton County Sheriff's Department.

She was an active member of Boykins United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Karen Garriss Sledge (Jodie) of Margarettsville and Amy Garriss Penninger (Jeffrey) of Mt. Pleasant, NC; a brother Gene Lassiter of Eufaula, AL; and three grandchildren, Parker Srackangast, Taylor Sledge, and Connor Srackangast.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Friday, October 30, 2020 in Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins with Dr. Rev. Garland Hines officiating.  The family requests everyone bring a card with their fondest memory of Marcia and that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Boykins United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 246, Boykins, VA 23827.  It is also requested that masks be worn and everyone adhere to social distancing rules.
