Marshall Wayne Moore, 64, died July 22, 2008 at his residence. Born in Northampton County, NC, he was a retired central office repairman for Verizon South and, following retirement, worked at Dail's Homecenter in Franklin and American Timberlands in Windsor. Wayne was an honorary member of the Franklin Fire and Rescue Squad, having served 32 years as a volunteer. An avid sportsman, he was a lifetime member of the Galatia, NC Hunt Club and was a former member of the Franklin Jaycees, former Boy Scout leader and former Franklin Little League baseball coach. He was a member of Hunterdale Christian Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Connie Dilday Moore; two sons, Raye Moore and wife, Melanie, of Franklin, Robert Wayne Moore and wife, Lea Ann, of Hampton; four grandchildren, Davis Moore, Allison Moore, Danielle Moore, and Caitlyn Moore; his mother-in-law, Ruth H. Dilday of Murfreesboro, NC; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Dilday of Raleigh and his beloved pet, Raven. He was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Gertie Davis Gray and Walter E. Gray.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am today (Thursday) at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Rosie officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Southampton Hospice, Virginia Oncology nurses and Wayne's caregiver and friend, Gloria Ivey.
