Franklin- Lydia Porter Griggs, 97, passed away January 30, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Willie "Herman" and Martha "Mattie" Cook Porter and was also predeceased by her husband John Woodson Griggs, her sisters, Annie Hedgepeth, Arie Wilkins and Bessie Seldomridge and brothers, Marvin, Ray and Cecil Porter and a son-in-law, Charles Moore.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty G. Moore of Newport News, a son, John W. Griggs, Jr (Julie) of Courtland, three grandchildren, Evan Griggs, Angela Moore and Stacy M. Gutierrez (Giovanni) and one great granddaughter, Gia Gutierrez.

She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.

A funeral will be conducted at 11AM Tuesday February 2, 2016 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Donica officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
