Franklin – Lucy Spence Whitley, 94, passed away March 13, 2016. She was a native of Southampton County and a daughter of the late David Cleveland Spence and Julia Parker Spence. She was predeceased by her husband, Bertelle Allen Whitley, a son, Frank B. Whitley, a sister, Lizzie Mae Bryant and a brother, Joe Spence. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and had retired as Chief Operator for Continental Telephone Company.

Survivors include one son, Harry D. Whitley (Kathy), a daughter-in-law, Diann Whitley, five grandchildren, Eddie Whitley (Mary Catherine), Jennifer Whitley, Justin Whitley (Lucy), Jon Whitley (Lisa) and Chris Whitley, six great grandchildren, Morgan, Jack, Nate, Claire, Hannah and David Whitley.

A graveside service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Watson officiating. Memorial Donations may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
