Franklin – Lucy Byrd Holland, 99, widow of Joseph Conway Holland passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the East Pavilion. Born November 17, 1912 in Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Louberta Holland Byrd and was also predeceased by her sister, Louvenia Blythe and a brother, Stanley Byrd. She was a retired manager for Field Enterprises Educational Corporation and a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her two nieces, Shelby B. Coggsdale and Carolyn B. Thornton; three nephews, Larry G. Blythe, William L. Blythe, Jr. and Stanley L. "Pete" Byrd, Jr.; great nieces and nephews and the nieces and nephews on Conway's side of the family.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Wright Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, February 7th from 7 to 8:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N.
