Newsoms – Lucille "Lucy" Griffin Watson Roe, 75, widow of Ronald Guy Roe, passed away March 26, 2021 in Bon Secours Maryview Nursing Care Center in Suffolk.  Born and raised in Newsoms, she was a daughter of the late Maynard Lawrence Griffin and Eula Ethel Ferguson Griffin.

Lucy didn't have the easiest path throughout her whole life but for you to speak with her or meet her you would have never known of any hardships she may have suffered. That's because she would greet you with a gleam in her eye that sparkled, a smile that would welcome you and fill you with warmth and you'd always get a hug that penetrated your soul. She loved deeply and she cared without hesitation. Her laughter would wash over you and I'll never forget that feeling.  Her sayings of "I love you all big and giant sizes" and "I love you bushel baskets full" hold up the walls of our hearts. She can rest easy now.  She has left us now but only her physical self for she will be in our hearts and minds forever.

Lucy was a Paralegal and after that she enjoyed retirement as a retail clerk at Food Lion.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Angela Roe of Portsmouth; her son, Michael Watson of Suffolk; a sister, Estelle Crump of Holden Beach, NC; and a brother, Fletcher Griffin of Suffolk.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  In Lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to a local Animal Shelter.
