Obituary

Newsoms – Louise Whitfield Story, 107, widow of James C. "Crack" Story, passed away September 24, 2020, with her family by her side.  Born and raised in Southampton County, she was the daughter of Charles Franklin Whitfield and Clio King Whitfield.  Louise was also predeceased by three brothers, Franklin, Marion, and Elliott Whitfield.

Louise was a graduate of Franklin High School and East Carolina Teachers College.  She was a 2 nd Grade teacher at Boykins, Sedley, and Newsoms before she became a farmer's wife.

She was a member of Newsoms Woman's Club and a former Pink Lady at Southampton Memorial Hospital.  Louise was the oldest member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is two daughters, Virginia Lee Story of Newsoms and Constance Story Roberson (Fred) of Durham, NC; two grandchildren, Ed and Kristen Roberson; a great grandson, Anson Roberson; a special nephew Elliott Whitfield; and two special caregivers, Vickie Hawkins and Candace Smith.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, September 27, 2020 in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Rev. Steve Gibson officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church.
