Franklin – Louise Caroon Askew, 77, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died January 6, 2008. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Mattie Sarah Cutchins and Thomas Mason Caroon, Sr., and the widow of Harold Bythel Askew. Louise was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Ann Smith, and two brothers, Thomas Mason Caroon, Jr. and Willie Ed Caroon. She worked at the Suffolk News Herald in the early 1950s and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Marcia A. Campbell and husband, Wesley, of Franklin; two grandchildren, Melissa Carol Campbell, Wesley Harold Campbell; one great-granddaughter, Meghan Hinton; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 am in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Dr, A. Richard Childress officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
