Murfreesboro, NC – Lloyd Vann, 82 of Murfreesboro, NC, peacefully passed away July 9, 2008. He was a veteran, serving 28 years of military service including service during WW II. Lloyd was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifteen years, Shirley Dickens Vann; three sons, Ed Miller of Durham, NC, Julian Dickens of Newport, NC, and Jan Dickens of Suffolk, Va, one half-sister, Mary Joyner; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Vann was predeceased by four sisters, Magdalene Davis, Reba Hodges, Retha Colston, Nell Grizzard, and two brothers, Horace Lane and Gilbert Lane.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11 am at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, with the Rev. James Hester officiating. The family will receive friends today (Friday) from 7 to 8:30 pm at Meherrin Baptist Church. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., is assisting the family. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
