Como – Lewis Dossey Gore, 73, former owner and operator of the Family Mart, Inc. in Como, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on November 29, 2012. A native of Tabor City, NC, he was a son of the late Owen and Maggie Picot Gore.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Joanna Christie Gore; son, Harold Savvas Gore and his wife, Cynthia, of Como; two sisters, Barbara Cox and Shirley Gore, and a brother, Robert Gore and his wife, Shelia, all of Tabor City; two grandchildren, Jennifer Futrell and her husband, Scott, of Newsoms, VA and Ashley Eure and her husband, Tony, of Gatesville, NC and one great- grandchild, Trinity Eure.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Norfolk, VA with the Very Rev. Ambrose Bitziadis-Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA. The family will receive friends at the residence from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and suggests, in lieu of a flowers, memorials be made to a favorite charity.
