Carrsville – Len R. Benson, Jr. 64, died April 22, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Franklin, a son of the late Jennie Sue Cutchins Benson and Len R. Benson, Sr. Len was also predeceased by a son, Michael Wayne Benson, Sr., and a brother, Earl Benson. He was a retired Quality Assurance Specialist with Sup Ship in Newport News, member of the Suffolk Golf Association and a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Diane Duck Benson; one son, Randy D. Benson and wife, Stephanie, of Lutz, Fl.; one sister, Josephine B. Poe of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Michael Wayne Benson, Jr., Ryan P. Benson, Nicholas Benson, John Benson, Mackenzie Benson; three step-grandchildren, Jimmy, Bobby, and Crystal; and one great-grandson, Michael W. Benson, III.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Bishop James M. Poe and the Rev. Jay Gunn officiating.
