Franklin-Laura Newsome Stieh, 75, went to be with the Lord October 23, 2015. She was a native of Southampton County and a daughter of the late Roma Wallace and Oretha Cobb Newsome. She was predeceased by two sisters, Irene O'Meara and Glenda Turner.
She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, a 1957 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of Paul D. Camp College. She had retired as a supervisor in the Accounting Department of Union Camp Corporation.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, J.E. Stieh, one son, Ernest Lauren Stieh (Jude), one daughter, Nancy Ellen Stieh, two grandchildren, Ernest Lauren Stieh, SGTF.C. and John Morgan Stieh, four great grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary, Micah and Sarah, two step grandsons, Joseph and Tony Griffiths and five step great grandchildren, two sisters, Audrey Padgett (Donald), Edna Butler (Marvin) and three brothers, Roland Newsome (Ryland), Wendell Newsome and Clayton Newsome (Joan), two brothers-in-law, Delbert O'Meara and Ed Turner and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 PM Monday, October 26, 2015 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Kitts and the Rev. Willis Switzer officiating. The burial will be at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Black Creek Baptist Church or a favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
