Franklin – Larry Cortese Umphlett, 72, passed away October 3, 2019 with his family by his side.  Born in Suffolk, he was the son of the late Linwood Cortese Umphlett and Bertha Smith Umphlett.  Larry was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a taxidermist for 20 years.  He was a manager for Auto Zone and a former employee of Union Camp Corporation.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Elaine Jernigan Umphlett, a daughter Jill Marie Umphlett, a step-son Michael Lee Parker, and two grandchildren Emmy Riece Umphlett Robertson and Logan Lee Parker.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1PM Monday, October 7, 2019 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Vinson officiating.  A Committal Service with Military Honors will be at 3 PM in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
