Courtland – SFC Larry West Lowe (US Army Ret), 65, passed away at home December 24, 2013 with his family by his side. Born in Suffolk, he was a son of the late West and Bonnie Lowe and was predeceased by his beloved wife of 39 years, Sharon Elaine Hanna Lowe.
Mr. Lowe served 20 plus years in the US Army and served four years in the US Navy, having served during the Panama, Vietnam and Desert Storm eras and was also a retired Corrections Officer from the Virginia Department of Corrections.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Kanney Driver, and husband, James, of Skippers and Rachel Lynn Bailey of Courtland; his son, Daniel "Danny" West Lowe, and wife, Becky, of Boykins; his brothers, Keith Lowe and Ricky Lowe; his special sister-in-law, Janet Brooks; his sisters, Joan Raiford and Pat Padgett; seven grandchildren, Lauren Lumpkin, Kyle Kirchoffer, Tyler Kirchoffer, Samantha Sawyer, Dougie Bailey, Christopher Bailey and Ryan Brooks; and three great-grandchildren, Hailee Lumpkin, Junior Sawyer and Haiden Lumpkin.
A funeral service with will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with the Pastor Bobby Giles officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Capron Cemetery.
