Boykins – Kenneth Irvin "Kenny" Smith, 83, passed away November 10, 2019 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.  Kenny was a life-long resident of Southampton County and was a son of the late Forrest Olden and Mary Griffin Smith.  He was also predeceased by his former wife Lillie Stoltz Smith and his brother Marion G. Smith.  Kenny was a graduate of Boykins High School and Virginia Tech.  He was a retired insurance agent with Bryant and Tankard Insurance Agency and was a former Virginia National Guardsman.  Kenny was a member of the Franklin Shag Club, an avid fisherman, and enjoyed a good hand of poker.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving friend of 25 years Margaret Wood; two daughters Sharon Smith Cobb (Ronnie) and Miriam Smith Birdsong (Everett); three grandchildren Jessica Cobb Whitley (Jason), Brook Birdsong, and Lillie Birdsong Hartman (Hunter); great grandson Hayden Whitley; two nephews Craig (Lisa) and Todd Smith (Kristen); and his beloved cats Mama Cat and Buddy.
