Franklin – Kaye Overby Griffin, 79, widow of Oliver Daniel Griffin, peacefully passed July 5, 2020 in her home with family by her side.  Kaye was a native of Southampton County and was a daughter of the late Marvin Dudley Overby and Cleo Ricks Overby.

Kaye was a member and three time club champion at Cypress Cove Country Club and a former softball and basketball coach at Southampton Academy.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cindy G. Johnson (Gene) of Graham, NC; her son, M. Dean Griffin (Cindy) of Courtland; a sister, Mary Ann Fountain; four grandchildren, Madison Griffin Miller (Chris), Will Griffin (Harley), Austin Glazebrook, and Kayelee Glazebrook; one great grandchild, Mason Griffin; a special cousin, Sylvia Lowe of Franklin; a dear friend, Cora Ann Johnson of Franklin; and her caregivers.

A Memorial Service will be at 6 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 or the charity of your choice.
