Franklin – June Smith Cooley, 73, died January 5, 2008. A native of Laurel, MS., and a resident of Franklin since 1959, she was the only child of the late James Franklin and Rheda McDaniel Smith. June was retired as a secretary from the Technical Department of Union Camp Corporation after 25 years of service. She had been a faithful and devoted member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church for over 45 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, James Charles Cooley; her daughter, Melanie Cooley Gayle and husband, Ben, of Southern Pines, NC; and two granddaughters, Paige Elise Patton and Bonnie Kate Patton.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin Presbyterian Church, 405 Lee Street, Franklin, Va. 23851.
