Obituary

Franklin – Julia Vasser Hedgspeth, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in East Pavilion. Julia was born November 11, 1934, in Georgia to the late Ruby and Edgar Wiggins. She was also predeceased by her husbands James I Hedgspeth and James T. Vasser and brother John W. Franklin, Jr.

Julia spent many years being a wife and mother of four children at home and later in life she was the manager of Pope's in Courtland. She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church.

Because of Julia sharing her life here on earth, she is survived by four children Roger T. Vasser (Diane), Peggy V. Gray (Wayne), Garry D. Vasser, and Patricia V. Lane (Bob); her sister Elizabeth "Libby" W. Powell whom she loved dearly; her five grandchildren Charles W. Gray, Jr. (Shannon), James Andrew "Andy" Gray, Kelly Edwards Donnell (Chaz), Chelsey Edwards-Blakley (Quinton, Sr.) and Ridge M. Edwards (Samantha); and eleven great-grandchildren Frances and Dottie Gray, Caleigh and Camden Gray, Bryer Donnell, Quinton Jr., Michaela, Abby, and Lexy Blakley, and Aidyn and Spencyr Edwards.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 Kingsfork Rd., Suffolk, VA with Pastor Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday in Wright Funeral Home and requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Burdette Baptist Church, 35490 Burdette Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
