Boykins – Joyce O'Neal Ricks went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 1, 2020.  She was born on June 1, 1929 to Murial Holder O'Neal and Dallas Simmons O'Neal in Severn, NC where she lived for 19 years, graduating from Severn High School as valedictorian of her class.  She worked as office manager for Ricks Corn House for many years and then Ricks & Sons Distributing Co.  She worked for the US Postal Service for 23 years, nine of which she was Postmaster.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, four sisters, one brother and their spouses.

Survivors include her three children Rebecca Ricks Newton (Mike), Willie Henry Ricks, Jr. (Debbie), Edward Keith Ricks (Mica), four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Boykins Baptist Church, where she was a member since April 1948, with the Pastor Raymond Bunn and Pastor Scott Biggers officiating.  A reception and visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall.  Burial will be private in Beechwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boykins Baptist Church, P. O. Box 316, Boykins, VA 23827.  Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
