Courtland – Joyce Hudson Edwards, 73, passed away June 24, 2022 at Sentara Obici Hospital surrounded by her children.  Mrs. Edwards was born in Weymouth, MA, a daughter of the late Donald W. and Janice Smith Hudson.  She was also predeceased by two brothers, William Hudson and Edward Hudson, and one sister, Teresa Hudson.

She was a graduate of Bridgewater College and a longtime educator at Southampton High School where she was an electronic classroom teacher.  She enjoyed working with the students at Southampton High School and was an avid reader and tried to emphasize the joy of reading to her students.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Emily Edwards Johnson (Peter) of Solon, Ohio; three sons, Scott A. Edwards (Renee) of Boykins, VA, Bradley David Edwards (Carrie Mae) of Richmond, VA, and Timothy K. Edwards of Courtland, VA; one sister, Elaine Hale (Keith) of Front Royal, VA; two brothers, Donald Hudson (Judy) of Strasburg, VA and Robert Hudson (Doris) of Appomatox, VA; eight grandchildren, Gavin Edwards, Carlee Edwards, Laurel Edwards, Magnus Edwards, Silas Johnson, Simone Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, and Peyton Edwards; and a beloved niece, Danielle Rowland.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 4 to 6 PM at Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4 ^th Avenue, Franklin, VA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org
