Obituary

Como – Joseph Edward Eure, Jr., 70, set sail to his eternal resting place on December 6, 2021 with loved ones by his side.  He was born in Hertford County to Joseph Edward Eure, Sr. and Lucy Howell Eure on January 23, 1951.

Joseph was a selfless and Godly man that was loved dearly by many.  He devoted every ounce of himself to his Lod and Savior, to his wife of 43 years, Barbara, to raising his boys to be Godly and honorable men.  He loved hunting, fishing, carpentry work, and helping others.  He was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church where he once served as a deacon.  He worked for Hertford County School's maintenance department where he later retired.  He was a true blessing to so many and to his community.   He didn't know a stranger.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Barbara Bailey Eure; his sons, Joshua "Josh" Eure of Como, NC and Joseph "Eddie" Eure (Anita) of Hertford, NC; an adopted son, Andrew Wagal (Magan) of Whiteville, NC; his beautiful grandbabies, Robert "Steven" Banks, Jonathan Banks and Matilyn "Mattie" Eure all of Hertford and Haley Wagal, Michael Wagal, Hunter Fletcher, Blake Thompson, and Jennifer Crasor all of Whiteville; his sisters, Juanita Bohlander (Mike), Margaret Smith (John), Hannah Futrell, Frances Byrum (Spencer), and Joyce Byrum; his sister-in-law, Linda Eure; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, "pretty man" John Eure.

The family would like to thank everyone for their sympathy and kindness during this difficult time and would like to say a special thank you to Joseph's care team at Amedisys for their wonderful care, love, and kindness, as well as his care team at Albermarle Home Care.

In lieu of flowers, Joseph would want you to devote yourself to Jesus and/or do a good deed in your community.  Upon his request, no services will be held.  Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4 th Avenue, Franklin, VA 23851 is handling his requests.
