Franklin – Joseph Elliott Edwards, Jr., born on October 25, 1937, departed this earthly life and was greeted by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the age of 85. He was the son of the late Joseph Elliott Edwards, Sr. and the late Minnie Blythe Edwards.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Cutright Edwards; a son, Chad Edwards (Tricia); a daughter, Wendy Edwards Allanson; and two grandsons, Jeremy Adam Edwards and Benjamin Lee Allanson.

"Brother", as he was known to many, was born and raised in Southampton County with his three siblings Faye Stephens (Billy), Linda Hall (Fred), and the late Ronnie Edwards (Becky). After graduating from Franklin High School in 1955, Joe began a 42-year career with the United States Postal Service and served in the Virginia National Guard.

As a life-long Christian, Joe served many roles in his church including deacon, treasurer, choir member, usher, and member of the men's fellowship group. At the time of his passing, Joe was a beloved member of The Harvest Christian Fellowship.

A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 5PM Saturday, February 25, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to The Harvest Christian Fellowship.
