Franklin - John "Johnny" Michael Worrell, 70, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was born on November 12, 1955 in Fort Myers, Florida to the late Earl and Helen Worrell.

Johnny was a 1974 graduate of Southampton High School and later worked at VDOT in the Right of Way department until his retirement. Johnny enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting with Newsoms Hunt Club, golfing, fishing, cheering for all UVA sports, and sitting on his porch at his beloved log cabin with a good book.

Left to cherish his memory is his son and daughter-in-law, Lawson and Megan Worrell; a brother, Manley Worrell; a sister Elaine Hall; two nieces, McKenzie Worrell and Kristi Hall (Thor); a grand-dog, Dolly; several friends that were like family, Richard, Beau, David, Donna, Ricky, and Karla, and a host of other friends.

The family will receive friends and family at Johnny's Dockside home in Franklin, VA. A memorial service will be held at Wright Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 3 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to Newsoms Hunt Club (c/o David Nurney, 25223 Meherrin Rd.
