Franklin- John Franklin Slaton, 84, passed away May 10, 2014. John was born in Electric Mills, MS, a son of the late Thomas and Eloise Sharpe Slaton. He was a retired Paper Mill Superintendent of the Union Camp Plant in Eastover, SC, with 44 years of service to the company. He enjoyed Lake Gaston where he was a master gardener and a member of the Lake Gaston Water Safety Council.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Joyner "Kitty" Slaton, one daughter Theresa Leigh Slaton of Waxhaw, NC, one son David Dwight Slaton and his wife Betty of Franklin, three brothers, Malcolm, Coleman and Larry Slaton, two grandchildren, Keith Slaton and his wife, Ashley and Amie S. Baty and her husband Daniel, two great grandchildren, Brooke Taylor Baty and Liam Edward Slaton.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 13 at The Village at Woods Edge with the Rev Michael Baugham officiating.
