Newsoms – John Robert "Johnny" Glover, Jr., 79, passed away June 9, 2019 in his home.  A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late John Robert Glover, Sr. and Lillie Lou Brock Glover and was also predeceased by his first wife Rita Vick Glover, his second wife Gracie Bell Pope Glover, two sisters Sallie Kirk and Gracie Kotel, and three brothers William E. Glover, Milton L. Glover, and Pete Dundalow.  He was an Army Veteran and a retired crane operator in the Wood Yard for International Paper.  After his retirement he ran the dumpsite on Monroe Road for Southampton County.  Johnny was a member of Franklin Hunt Club and Southampton Coon Hunter's Club.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughter, Cindy Blocker and Patty Turner, both of Windsor; two step-daughters, Melissa Presson of Carrsville and Brenda Burgess of Capron; five grandchildren, Amanda, Boo, twins Jesse and Johnny, and Justin; five step-grandchildren, Nikki, Taylor, Dean, Lori, and Chris; nine great grandchildren; and his beloved dog Maebelle.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.
