Boykins – John Herman Drewry, Jr, 82, died July 31, 2007. He was born in Boykins, a son of the late John Herman and Nelle Moore Drewry. Mr. Drewry was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Faye O'Neal Drewry. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of WWII and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Boykins Lion's Club, Meherrin Hunt Club, and Boykins United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, J. H. "Jack" Drewry, III, of Boykins and Patrick Dale Drewry of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Nelle Drewry Drummond of Pawley's Island, SC; one brother, Samuel Blount Drewry of Boykins; three grandchildren, Evelyn D. Bailey of Charlotte, NC, John H. Drewry, IV, of Norfolk, and Justin Dathan Anders Drewry of Pawling, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Emma Catherine Campbell Drewry and Virginia Ridley Drewry.
A graveside funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 am in Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Edward C. Johnson and Pastor Michael Baugham officiating. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southampton Hospital, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
