Suffolk – John Alfred "Al" Carr, 69, passed away March 14, 2023 in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born in Franklin, he was a son of the late Joseph Robert "JR" Carr and Gertrude Carr.  He was also predeceased by a brother, J. R. "Bobby" Carr and his wife Kaye.

Al attended Franklin Public Schools and was a roofing contractor.

Al was a free and easy spirit and a loyal friend to everyone.  He is survived by two daughters, Chelsea Carr and Alison Carr of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Joyce C. Crandall (Sammy) of Falls Church, VA; his girlfriend, Denise Smith of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Al's life will be held from 2 to 4PM Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home.  The family suggests you come join them and bring your fond memories of Al to share with the family.  Memorial donations may be made to www.nationalmultiplesclerosissociety.org .
